I can't spend $400 on custom boots so I buy cheap, off-the-shelf boots and have them altered, never expecting them to really fit well. However, I was pleasantly surprised with these Devon Aire Cavalier boots. I took them to a shoe shop, had 2 inches cut off the top and the elastic gusset moved down. (I highly reccommend buying boots with this gusset!) So they fit perfect now, but the best part is they're so comfy. I can actually walk around comfortably for hours and even drive in them. The tops aren't so stiff that you get blisters trying to break in the ankles like other boots. For about $125 retail + $45 alteration costs, they're like having a pair of custom made boots.
